No matter where you are across Australia, consuming current media can be exhausting at best at this present time. Without the need to go into detail (as we all know what’s been going on), it’s refreshing every now and again to listen to something new, maybe something unexpected, something uplifting. Whether you’re about to tackle the usual 10-block radius on foot or going on your first car journey that extends past a 5km boundary, or heck! You may even be lucky enough to be going on a grand old adventure that requires packing a suitcase! Whatever your journey ahead, we thought we’d list some favourite planty-podcasts. From the outlandish to the beginner, from super niche to edu-tainment, there may be a voice in this list that inspires, encourages and delights.

All the Dirt is an excellent podcast from Steve Wood and Deryn Thorpe, who together combine decades of gardening, sustainability and environmental knowledge to create one of Australia’s most popular gardening podcasts.

Plants Grow Here is another Australian podcast, Daniel Fuller (with visits from Ben Sims) created Plants Grow to fuel his desire to learn more from people who have specialised knowledge and a passion for what they do.

BranchOut is produced by the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney, this excellent local podcast links plants and the science together and is delivered in an easy to digest format - no degree needed!

Gardening with the RHS - award-winning for good reason. Gardening with the RHS is packed with knowledge, stories and inspiration that reminds us that in the garden, you’re forever learning. Education gained here is not just UK-specific, but truly garden-specific, so can be used everywhere!

The Plant Based Podcast - Hosted by two passionate UK-based horticulturists, Ellen Mary and Michael (Mr Plant Geek) talk about anything, really, but it must relate back to plants! Both established horticulturists, these two are making their mark in green-living.

In Defense of Plants - an excellent, weekly botanical podcast created by American Matt Candeias, this podcast brings together the best botanical, horticultural and science minds together to talk about all things plants.

On the Ledge - a lifelong house-plant lover, Jane Perrone’s On the Ledge looks at houseplants in detail, and considers everything from the sustainability of potting mixes, to the low-down on mites, to grow-a-longs for listeners to grow at the same time.

Completely Arbortrary - one for the tree lovers! Join Casey Clapp (dendrologist) and tree-skeptic pal Alex Crowson for hilarious episodes honing in on a specific species. It’s got us offering ‘Golden Cones of Honor’ to trees about town!

Crime Pays but Botany Doesn’t - Joey Santore educates us on all things botanical, geographical and political at the same time, taking a very unique Chicagoan approach. Deeply knowledgeable, but delivered in a completely distinctive and unconventional way, this is one to listen to when the kiddos are not around!

Black in the Garden - a beautiful, horticultural podcast from comedian and lifelong nature-lover, Colah B Tawkin. This podcast is about more than just horticulture; Colah works to amplify Black voices and brings the marginalised into the center of the plant industry. The garden doesn’t discriminate, after all!

A Way to Garden - with Margaret Roach is all things 'horticultural how-to and woo-woo'! Weekly, super digestible 26 minute episodes from an established gardener and author, you’ll learn something new every week!

There are so many more that we couldn’t fit here, and we’d love to hear about your favourite if we missed it!
