Share your experience and help students find their dream career

Can you remember how you first got into gardening? For many of us, the spark came from a conversation with somebody whose passion for gardening shone through. Now there’s an opportunity for you to share some of your own gardening wisdom and help students work out what kind of career path they should be taking.

95% of young people say they would welcome more advice and guidance about careers from employers, and now Inspiring the Future Australia is helping make those connections.

Inspiring the Future Australia is a national campaign for career inspiration, that aims to broaden the horizons and raise the aspirations of students everywhere. It does so through a free, secure website, that runs powerful matching software to enable teachers and volunteers from the world of work to connect freely and easily.

The Australian Garden Council (AGC) is working with Inspiring the Future Australia to ensure that anyone interested in a gardening career gets the best possible introduction to the industry. We are hoping to organise a network of willing volunteers across the country to answer students’ questions about working in gardening.

For those who volunteer to chat with students it’s an easy, enjoyable and rewarding experience. As a volunteer, you choose the areas where you get involved, select what activities you are willing to do and RSVP whether you can attend or not. The commitment is small, as little as an hour or two, but you might make a huge impact on somebody’s life.
